Computer forensics is more than the production of electronic data. Although it begins with the collection of electronic evidence in a manner that preserves evidential integrity, computer forensics goes beyond the production of data and includes the analysis of the data as well as the media on which the data is stored to determine content, usage and trend.
The application of computer forensics covers a broad range of media (tapes, hard drives, CDs, memory cards, etc.) as well as diverse systems ranging from PDA's and cell phones to computer workstations, laptops, network servers and larger systems. |
