The K&F E-mail Parser iterates through an Outlook PST file or individual MSG files cataloging the various properties of an e-mail as well as its attachments.  The properties can be loaded into the K&F List Viewer for subsequent examination and each message and attachment is tracked by media source, information store, and location within the information store.

User’s can also choose to have the messages and their attachments extracted for subsequent production or examination.  The attachments remain in their native format while the message is extracted into text.  If preferred, the entire e-mail message and attachments can be extracted into Outlook MSG format.

In addition, MD5 hash values are computed and captured for the entire e-mail, attachments included, as well as for the message and each attachment separately.  Furthermore, users can select which of five attributes, or any combination of the five, on which to compute the message’s MD5 hash.  This enables the users to select how granular e-mail elements can be selected for subsequent review.  Clearly, the finer the grain the more savings can be realized during subsequent review.
